Smiti Kumar

Academic Life

Smiti graduated from the University of Durham with an M.Sc. in Management studies in 1981.  In 1979, she graduated from Georgetown University in Washington, DC with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a major in Marketing and a minor in Sociology.  She has organized three of her high school class reunions and one for her Durham University Business School classmates (in 2001).

Professional Life

Smiti is a Strategic Marketing Executive at U.S. Trust, a division of Bank of America, in New York City, where she leads all of the marketing activities for the Northeast Division.  Prior to this, she was at Merrill Lynch, now also part of Bank of America, where she was responsible for Brand Strategy, Advertising and Public Relations for the Wealth Management division.  Smiti has also worked at The Coca-Cola Company and America Online.  She spent several years in the advertising agency business managing automotive, fast food and other retail accounts.

Social Life

Though Smiti was born in New Delhi, she moved to Washington, DC when she was an infant and lived there through her college years and beyond, so considers herself a native Washingtonian.  She is an avid movie fan and animal lover and enjoys traveling.  Her last few vacations were in Dubai, Australia, India and Peru.
